Workshop Summary
Success in
innovation and product development depends on
understanding the market and particularly the
opportunities that may exist for you within that market.
Of course with innovation, we have sort of a catch-22
because truly innovative products will be creating part
or all of that new market. Nevertheless, before
committing an innovation program to the creative
generation of ideas and solutions, one should know what
the opportunity landscape looks like and be able to
drive your products from that vantage point.
This
workshop will introduce you to a comprehensive model for
the front end of innovation and then show you how market
opportunity analysis can be woven into that model. We
begin our focus on the "fuzzy front end" where not only
product conceptualization, but also the pre-work for
product conceptualization takes place.
You
will learn the roles and methods that market opportunity
analysis should play in discovering and validating key
value elements needed by customers and how these can
guide the innovation process to assemble a product
specification which meets those value elements.
Attendees will learn how to research and develop key
information including addressable market size and key
value requirements that can help you begin your
iterative journey between solutions and problems. This
market opportunity discovery process will drive and
interact with activities such as requirements
engineering and development, solution proposal and
development, ideation, alternative scenarios and other
processes used to develop significant innovations and
winning products.
Overall, you will learn to integrate the process of
market opportunity analysis with a powerful innovation
development model for repeatedly creating successful new
business.
